My recent figurative work is on view at Frontburner through August 21. The exhibit includes pieces that were in shows earlier this year in Los Angeles and Sacramento.
Coastal interpretations
I painted panel versions of pages from my coastal sketchbook today. I may revisit these within the next few days.
Coastal shapes
These are recent studies inspired by our Sonoma County coastline. I did this on site, using acrylic ink on 300 lb watercolor paper.
Something white
Last week I ran over to Robert’s Relics in Windsor to look for something white to paint. I found a ceramic creamer that had an interesting shape and tried my luck at painting it. I used two palettes – one with shades and tints of raw sienna and one with shades and tints of cerulean blue. Here is a photo of the creamer, followed by the painting.
Painting challenge – layer 1
Photographer Drew Jackson, glass painter Julie Cole and I challenged ourselves to respond to the same subject matter – an interesting convergence of roof lines near the Town Green in Windsor. Below you can see a photo of the roof lines and then my first layer of color (seven more layers to come).
